Yesterday, was a literal dream come true for me!
I got to facilitate Rockin’ and Readin’ at the Gettysburg Library in Pennsylvania, where I attended storytime and checked out books as a kid.
Talk about coming full circle.
My family and I moved back to my hometown in Pennsylvania in 2021, and though I continue to run my business in Florida and lead virtual sessions with clients in Miami, I’ve also been establishing in person contracts here in PA.
One of the most exciting contracts is with the Adams County Library system, where I’ve been leading Toddler Rock and Rockin’ and Readin’ sessions.
Rockin’ and Readin’ is a program I created to bring music therapy to the library for children of all abilities to experience.
Yesterday at the Gettysburg branch I led a beach-themed session, so we:
- Surfed to songs by The Beach Boys
- Sang and made ocean waves with the parachute
- Read the singable story “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Shell” (this got TONS of belly laughs)
- Did an ocean animal freeze dance
- Played the ocean drum
- Shook our maracas and sang “Under the Sea”
I loved hearing those little voices singing along with me, and watching the joy on the faces of their caregivers. I am blessed and thankful to do a job I absolutely love!
We have more Baby and Toddler Rock sessions and Rockin’ and Readin’ sessions coming up at both the Miami Dade Public Library System in Florida and the Adams County Library System in Pennsylvania.
Stay tuned to Wholesome Harmonies’ Instagram for upcoming programs, which are free and open to the public.
