Rockin’ and Readin’ kicked off last month at the West Dade Regional Library and it was a hit!
Over 50 children and their parents attended and we had a blast singing, playing rhythm instruments, waving the parachute and hearing a singable story to “Ain’t Gonna Paint No More.”
Rockin’ and Readin’ is a program I created that is offered in collaboration with Miami Dade County Public Library system.
The program is designed to allow children of ALL abilities, including those with special needs, to participate in music therapy activities. These activities target developmental goals and promote literacy through singable stories.
It may be September, but in Miami we are still feeling the heat!
So, this month we’ll be taking a musical trip to the beach! The children will hear singable stories about ocean animals, make waves with the parachute and will have the chance to play to a brand new instrument..the ocean drum!
