I was recently contacted by the editor of Specialneeds.com, an online resource for parents of children with special needs. The editor asked if I would take part in Autism Awareness Month by writing an article about music therapy and autism. I was more than happy to do this!

This topic is near and dear to my heart since I work with many children with autism AND I wrote my master’s thesis on the topic (Joint Attention Responses of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to Simple Versus Complex Music – quite the mouthful, I know!)

In the article, I incorporated some of the research cited in my thesis, and provided a description of some music therapy goals and interventions for children with autism. Here is the link to the article – read on!
