William Tipton, MT-BC

Board-Certified Music Therapist and Music Teacher

I’m William Tipton and I am a board-certified music therapist from Fort Myers, FL. I’ve been playing music since I was 9 years old. At 18 years old, I joined the US Army where I served 5 ½ years in the intelligence field. After completing my time in the service, I decided to pursue a career in the field of music therapy.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in music therapy at the University of Miami. Throughout my clinical training, I had the opportunity to practice at several locations throughout Miami-Dade County, including the Debbie School, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, United Community Options, Ryder Trauma Center, and the Miami Veterans Hospital.

After my coursework at the University of Miami, I completed a 6-month music therapy internship at United Community Options of South Florida (UCO). At UCO I led both group and individual music therapy sessions for children and adolescents with special needs. This is where I decided that I have a passion to serve those that have special needs with music therapy.

Currently, I am seeing clients in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. I provide both individual and group music therapy sessions, as well as adapted lessons. I am available to teach adapted lessons on guitar, piano, ukulele, drums, and voice. I believe that music therapy should be fun, creative, and most importantly goal-oriented. In my music therapy sessions, I love to introduce new instruments and music technology. I am always looking forward to working with new clients and seeing their growth from music therapy!

Kind Words about William

“I wanted to let you know our first class with William went great!!! We are so happy, as you said, William is a great teacher. They bonded immediately and Kristopher responds extremely well to his instruction. He even asked if he could come everyday!!”
