Priya Sharma, MT-BC

Board-Certified Music Therapist & Music Teacher

Priya Sharma (she/her/hers) is a board certified music therapist who was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nairobi, Kenya. Growing up, she has lived in India, Dubai, Kenya, and has had the privilege of interacting with people of various cultures and backgrounds.

Priya plays piano, oboe, flute, guitar, and voice, and has received certifications for each instrument from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).

After high school, Priya moved to Florida for college and recently received her BM in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology from the University of Miami. Throughout college she was actively involved with COISO (Council of International Students and Organizations) where she held multiple leadership positions, as well as Alpha Mu (Music Therapy Club).

Priya’s clinical experience includes work with hospitalized children, adults in oncology, veterans, children and adolescents with special needs, and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities both in person and online. She recently completed her clinical internship at Trustbridge Hospice in Palm Beach County, FL, where she worked with patients and their families in end-of-life care.

Priya is passionate about creating a safe music therapy environment for clients that focuses on their strengths, encourages them to learn and grow, and utilizes a person-centered approach towards all her clients.
