Board-Certified Music Therapist & Music Teacher

My name is Nicole and I received my Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Miami. I completed my clinical practica at various sites in Miami, including Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, United Community Options, Miami VA Healthcare System, Jackson Behavioral Health, and Claridge House Nursing Home. Populations included children with autism, veterans with PTSD, criminals diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, and clients diagnosed with dementia, Alzheimer’s and Parkinsons.

I have experience teaching adaptive piano and theory lessons to children and adolescents with autism and ADHD in a clinical and school setting.

I completed my clinical internship at United Community Options of South Florida (formerly United Cerebral Palsy) in Downtown Miami, FL, where I worked with students ages 8 months to adults with developmental disabilities.

I also attended a study abroad program in Heidelberg, Germany, where I shadowed three German music therapists. I observed how music therapy is implemented for group and individual sessions, and how graduate students learn about music therapy. I am currently completing my Master of Science Degree in Music Therapy at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis

Kind Words about Nicole:

“Nicole came over today and we were really pleased with how it went. She is a fantastic music teacher. We told her what a great job she did too. ”
– Delphine Corian, mother of Zoey (age 1 1/2) and Rayburn (age 3)

“I wanted to share how well Matthew’s evaluation went today. He was so attentive and was participating the whole session! Once music was over, he pushed me away and got back on the chair because he wanted more. He also grabbed her guitar for more! I really like Nicole a lot. I think it’s going to work out great. It definitely exceeded my expectations! Music lights up his life :) I’m so glad we started again.”
– Martha Castillo, mother of Matthew
