At my time at the Capstone, I received certification as a Neonatal-Intensive Care Unit Music Therapist (NICU-MT). In addition, I founded the state of Alabama’s first Autism Speaks U chapter.

In 2014 I completed a six-month music therapy internship at Easter Seals Midwest Autism Services where I worked with individuals between the ages of two and forty-six on the autism spectrum. During my internship I received training in the practice of Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT).

I completed my master’s degree in Music Therapy from University of Miami and was a graduate teaching assistant. I have had extensive vocal training and play the guitar, piano, and ukulele. I have organized various sensory friendly performances targeted for individuals with autism and other sensory integration disorders. I am passionate about finding and developing tools to help each individual with autism or with other special needs be successful.

Kind Words about Allison

“Just to let you know, that Allison was awesome. She connected with Nicolas right away. And Nicolas enjoyed it so much. I couldn’t believe what she was be able to get from him. I was amazed. I’m so happy I made the decision to call you.
– Wendy Gutierrez, mother of Nicolas age 10

“C. is truly enjoying his sessions with Allison. He always looks forward to Wednesdays! Allison is amazing, she is so perfect for C. with her low key demeanor and soft spoken voice. C. is definitely responding to her and willing to work for her. I wish she could live with me!!!  They seem to be working on recognizing different feelings and emotions with the piano, so he can change the anxiouness to more calm at will with and without the keyboard.  I’m am hoping with practice this will carry over into his daily activities.”
– Mother of C.

“Allison is amazing, she is always so well prepared with fresh and exciting ideas each week.  Shane looks so forward to their session each week. Both  music and lyrics they have collaborated on have been extremely cathartic for him. He’s so proud of  his progress. I am so thankful to have her making a difference in Shane’s world.”
