<p>I was recently contacted by the editor of <a href="http://www.specialneeds.com/" target="_blank">Specialneeds.com</a>, an online resource for parents of children with special needs. The editor asked if I would take part in Autism Awareness Month by writing an article about music therapy and autism. I was more than happy to do this!</p>
<p>This topic is near and dear to my heart since I work with many children with autism AND I wrote my master&#8217;s thesis on the topic (<em>Joint Attention Responses of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to Simple Versus Complex Music &#8211; </em>quite the mouthful, I know!)</p>
<p>In the article, I incorporated some of the research cited in my thesis, and provided a description of some music therapy goals and interventions for children with autism. Here is the link to the article &#8211; read on!</p>
