Board-Certified Music Therapist

Amy studied at Phillips Academy in Andover, MA. Following that, she received her bachelors degree in music therapy from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. While studying at the Frost School, she received extensive training in the implementation of Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) techniques. Amy completed her clinical internship at the Matheny Medical and Educational Center, in Peapack, NJ, where she worked with children, teens, and adults with severe and profound disabilities.

Amy went on to earn her masters degree in music therapy from the University of Miami. She was selected as a graduate assistant, and supervised practicum students in a variety of settings and taught Introduction to Music Therapy. Her graduate research study, “Joint Attention Responses to Simple Versus Complex Music of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder” was published in the Journal of Music Therapy in 2012.

Clinically, Amy worked at United Community Options (UCO), formerly United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Miami, from 2006 – 2013, where she provided music therapy services to children birth – age 8 with autism and related disabilities. Amy also supervised numerous practicum students from University of Miami and interns.

Following that, Amy was invited to become the Interim Professor of Music Therapy at the University of Miami. She coordinated the clinical practicum program and taught the upper level courses, Music and Development and Music in Rehabilitation. Amy currently teaches virtual music therapy courses for the University of Miami Frost Online Program.

Amy has given numerous presentations at University of Miami and AMTA National Conferences on music therapy for children with developmental disabilities, her clinical experience, and her research.

Amy established her private practice, Wholesome Harmonies, LLC, in 2006. The practice has grown to a team of 14 board-certified music therapists providing music therapy services to children and teens with autism and related disabilities across South Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and DC.

Wholesome Harmonies is also a Continuing Education Provider for the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). Amy offers E-Courses, E-Books, and other creative resources for music therapists, to allow them to continue their professional development and help them feel more creative and confident in their session planning and facilitation.
