Happy Halloweenweek!

I am blogging one day earlier than usual so I can share a special video with you.

This Halloween at Early Beginnings Academy, we decided to do something a little different for the children. Our director, Yvonne, read a story called “Nightsong” by Ari Berk to the children. I accompanied her with a “musical score” I composed that matched what was happening in the book. (Reading Rainbow style! Remember that show?)

My wonderful intern, Barbara, also accompanied with instruments that matched what was happening in the book.

At 3:15 you’ll see my favorite instruments, the duck quacker and canary stick make an appearance!

Watch and see (and listen!)

We have also prepared a VERY special accompaniment to the book “Big Pumpkin” by Erica Silverman. That will be performed for the children on Wednesday the 31st.

Now I want to hear from YOU! Have you ever added a musical background accompaniment to a book? If so, share in the comment section below!
