Happy New Year everyone!! I cannot believe it is already 2012. I am so excited for what this new year will bring!  Through JoAnn Jordan of Music Sparks, I found that Chris Brogan is inviting us all to set three words to guide the year. “Give yourself a word that guides you towards a powerful new opportunity, and that keeps you focused on what comes of this year” he says.

My words to guide the year are…patience, productivity, and presence.

Patience – This year I need patience because I want to do it all NOW. I have so many ideas for my business, my blogging, my clinical work, my musical skills, my personal relationships, and even to publish my thesis! I need to stop, take a deep breath, and realize that everything takes time. Everything can and will get done in time. Patience.

Productivity – This year I want to use my time more productively. This means that rather than spending all night on the computer going back and forth between blogging and facebook (you know you do it, too!) I will set aside one dedicated hour to website, blogging and business matters. If it doesn’t get done, there’s always, always tomorrow. Productivity.

Presence – This year I want to be more present in my music therapy sessions. Towards the end of last year, things started picking up with my business and my blogging. I found myself not totally and completely present in my sessions because I was thinking ahead to what I had to get done next. This year, I am making a conscious effort to “leave it at the door” so to speak. I deserve that and my clients do, too. Presence.

What are YOUR three words that will guide you this new year? I would love to hear them!
